On December 16, 2021 live on the social network Facebook from the page of the Workshp for Civic Initiatives (WCIF) everyone could watch the award ceremony "Valya Krushkina - Journalism for People", part of the Valya Krushkina Fund. The tenth anniversary edition of the awards announced the winners in the 4 categories, as well as the winner of the Grand Prize. All winners received the symbol prize of the competition - transparent glass statuette in the shape of a pear, as colleagues and friends called Valya, who left us after a serious illness.
The danger of spreading the coronavirus forced the organizers for the second year in a row to cancel the official ceremony, which traditionally awards outstanding journalists. This year, however, unlike the previous one, the winners in the individual categories received their awards in person, and the award ceremony itself was pre-filmed and edited in a video. The awards were provided with the support of Beauty Lab.
Jury consisting of Vladimir Yonchev - OFF News, Maria Cherneva - BNT, Nikolina Dimitrova - Bulgaria ON AIR, Petyo Tsekov - Sega newspaper, Prolet Velkova - Darik Radio, Rosen Tsvetkov - bTV, Silvia Velikova - BNR, Stoyana Georgieva - Mediapool, determined the top three in the four categories of the competition and also the Grand Prize, among 130 materials by 66 journalists:
The winner of the Grand Prize is Maria Tsancarova. The investigation related to the HelpKarma platform - "Donations between money and hope" brought Maria the big award!
We are very happy that this year the "Young Journalist" award goes to a school student for the first time - 17-year-old Christian Yulzari from Ruse - schoolmedia - for "This is corruption, but no one is talking about it: How do millions of leva for youth activities dsappear every year?” In the same category were awarded other young journalists - 2nd place: Victoria Simeonova - gospodari.com - “Because of the inertness of the prosecution: Financial pyramid continues to swindle people out of huge sums of money” and 3rd place shared Tatiana Yordanova, BNT - "Education in the past: Why Archaisms continue to be taught in universities? " and Gloria Nikolova, BTV Media Group – “Rivers of Garbage”

Mirolyuba Benatova from TV1 always won in the category "Electronic Media Journalist": “For the investigation of fictitious hospitalizations of over 100 patients on false diagnostics at Lozenets Hospital.” 2nd place for Genka Shikerova, Free Europe - “Controlled Vote” and 3rd place for Zdravka Maslyankova, BNR Veliko Tarnovo – “How were over BGN 2 million spent on anti-epidemic measures at the elections?”
In the category "Writing Journalist" was awarded Boris Mitov, Free Europe - "Ministry of Interior against the protest. How the prosecution believed the dubious testimony of a police officer" and after him came in 2nd place Borislav Borisov and Plamena Ignatova, PRITI 95 / "Club Z - "Of three villas - a spa hotel. Location Sinemorets” and third Ivaylo Stanchev, "Capital", capital.bg State ESO – “One billion for Tanya from Razboyna”
The glass pear in the "Photojournalist" category was taken by: Miroslav Mihailov, Free Europe, for "The Mayor, the Bread, the Knife. Corporate Dependence in a Village". In 2nd place is Ivan Filchev “The War for the Holy Land” and in third place Boris Pintev, "The Plate of Bitola" - both from BTV Media Group
The Valya Krushkina - Journalism for People Awards are part of the Valya Krushkina Fund, established at WCIF on September 11, 2012 in memory of journalist Valya Krushkina, a longtime icon of BNT.
In the current 10 editions of the competition, more than 600 journalists with more than 1,000 articles have been nominated. The awards have become a benchmark for quality journalism, both among journalists and the general public, and are considered a serious recognition of the work of the awarded journalists. Over the years, various changes have been made in the categories of the competition, reflecting the trends in the development of journalism in our country.
The glass pear, a symbol of the award, is a handmade statuette, a copy of which is in the Museum of Glass at the factory in Beloslav.
