Samokov, September 20 2015
“Don’t neglect your education”, “Don’t be in a hurry to get married”, “Follow your dreams” – three of the messages which BFPA in cooperation with health mediators and the Samokov Municipality disseminate among the young people within BFPA project “The Art to Inform”, funded by OAK Foundation. The participating children form ppor and vulnerable communities cleared the space for a children’s playground and built the sets – benches, swings and flower pots, and also elaborated their own messages for their peers – “Child fathers are not good fathers”, “Don’t rob your own childhood”, “Childhood is colourful”, “Childhood needs warmth and light” with which they decorated their playground.
With similar inspiring messages they decorated one of the walls of their school so they can reach out to other children. After the official opening the young people presented a few short sketches about the negative impact of early dropping out of school and early marriages.
With the promised cooperation on behalf of the Мayor and Municipality of Samokov, who have also ensured six scholarships for disadvantaged children to study at a school for fine arts, the playground has yet to expand and improve, and the active participation of the health mediators will continue with music, art and work-related activities in order to attract even more children and young people.
