Plovdiv, October 26-27 2015
The second theme stage in implementing the project “Prisons without risk – a pilot initiative for preventing the spread of blood-transmitted and sexually transmitted infections in three selected Bulgarian prisons” has started. Education for staff on topics, connected with the rights of access to health care and services took place in Plovdiv prison on 26-27 October 2015.

The discussion covered wide range of topics connected with juridical definitions and cases from the practice, as well the possibility for changes in legislation concerning healthcare in places of imprisonment. It was also discussed on the thrust in relationships between physicians and patients and personal responsibility of the two sides.
The team implemented the training of two groups: Ivana Murdjeva, lawyer; Ventzislav Kirkov, Daniela Dikova and Ralitza Zgalevska form BFPA; Milen Chavrov from Hope Against AIDS Foundation.
An opportunity for voluntary and anonymous counseling and testing on HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C was given. Manuals to be used in everyday professional activities especially developed on project were given.
Legal aspects of the treatment of HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C in the context of the Law on Execution of Sentences were presented as a continuation of the work with professionals trained on the specificity of HIV, Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C infections in April.
