Final Conference of the Project Mission Possible
Sofia, April 20, 2017 - How can I advocate or help your advocacy efforts to have the salaries of health mediators increased? - How could we promote more successfully the information about activities we are doing? - What should we do to help teachers who want to get mor info on health and sexuality education? These and many other questions were asked by participants at the final conference under the project Mission Possible of Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) implemented in partnership with the National Network of Health Mediators (NNHM). The event took place in Sofia on April 20, 2017 and presented summarized results of the health services, educational activities, products and deliverables, including difficulties and specificities of fieldwork in marginalized communities. Health specialists, health mediators directly engaged in projects’ activities in all 14 locations, representatives of municipalities and partnering organizations of BFPA and NNHM participated.

The Learning Action Partnership prepares a conference to Stop Violence and Sexual Exploitation against Children
Sofia, April 12, 2017 ‘Big part of cases of violence are going trough internet or leave digital tracks,’ – shared Emanuil Georgiev from Applied Research and Communications Fund. The Fund if coordinator of the Center for Safe Internet and is one of the members of Learning Action Partnership (LAP). The meeting of LAP took place on April 12, 2017. Representatives from National Network for Children, PULSE Foundation, Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA), Risk Monitor Foundation, Know How Center for Alternative Care of New Bulgarian University, GERT Foundation, Applied Research and Communications Fund, Re-Act Association, Agapedia Foundation, UNICEF, Concordia, National Network of Health Mediators, Loveguide online platform and Ministry of Health also participated.

Results and Sustainability on Mission Possible
Sofia, March 9-10, 2017 Representatives of municipalities and health mediators from Sliven, Tvarditza, Shivachevo, Peshtera, Blagoevgrad, Samokov, Kovachevzi, Rozino and Hristo Danovo, Rakitovo, as well as the expert team of BFPA and NNHM, working on the ‘Mission Possible’ project, gathered at a working meeting looking for sustainability for activities after finishing the project. The Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) is implementing this project in partnership with National Network of Health Mediators (NNHM) on BG07 ‘Initiatives for Public Health’ programme of the Norvegian Financial mechanism via the Bulgarian Ministry of Health in 14 locations with extremely marginalized vulnerable communities. Participants shared about difficulties and good practices of their work by places.

Training of Peer Educators under the Mission Possible project
Sliven, March 1-4, 2017 Training of peer educators on health and sexuality education under the project ‘Mission Possible’ was implemented by the team of the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association in the very beginning of March 2017 in Sliven. Young people from Roma communities from the project locations were introduced to topics as puberty, hygiene, female and male reproductive systems, sexually transmitted infections, methods of contraception, prevention of trafficking of human beings, as well as interactive techniques of teaching health related topics. During the trainng BFPA officially launched the short animation film „Family Planning: the IUD” also part of the project ‘Mission Possible: better sexual and reproductive health for young people from vulnerable groups – ways of overcoming health inequalities’.

Project of BFPA and ‘St. Sofia’ Hospital - final meeting
Sofia, February 23-24, 2017 The final meeting on project ‘Access to health services for pregnant women, young mothers and children up to 3 years old from groups at risk’, implemented by Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) in partnership with First Specialized Ob/Gyn Hospital for Active Treatment ‘St. Sofia’ took place on February 23-24, 2017. The initiative provided measures and activities to improve the access and the quality of health services as well to improve maternal and child (0-3 year old) among representatives of vulnerable groups and roma population in Sofia Municipality. Information on access to different health and social services, as well health services for pregnant women and mothers of children up to 3-years were provided in the frame of more than 5380 individual consultations. 2500 tests for genetic carriers of Thalassemia covering women in early pregnancy, children up to 1 year and their parents were made.
