About the Shared Knowledge – Peer to Peer Training
Sofia, December 2-3 2016 Peer to peer training on health and sexual education with participation of young people from Sofia, Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Yambol, Vratsa, Pleven and Ruse took place on December 2-3, 2016, led by Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA). Why is health and sexual health education needed? What does it mean and why is peer education important? Which sources of information are trusted and which are the communicative skills needed for successful implementing of the educational sessions? How to form a good team so that to be successful in presenting the topics connected with puberty, family planning and safe sexual behavior? These and similar questions were discussed during the two day workshop at the exclusive interest and attention of the students.

Survivors Handbook (or not) for Positive – published by BFPA
Sofia, December 1, 2016 The Bulgarian Association for Family Planning and Sexual Health (BFPA) choose the World AIDS Day - December 1, 2016 to launch its newest edition - the book of Milen Chavrov and Ivana Murdjeva ‘Survivors Handbook (or not) for Positive.’The edition contains personally experienced stories of people living with HIV. It presents not popular and not presented up to the moment focus concerning HIV/AIDS in Bulgaria. It appeals to (re)think on categories ‘support’, understanding’, ‘friendship’ and ‘human attitude’ and tells about the huge and excessive burden which people living with HIV have to stand. Main characters in the stories are Ivancho, Mariyka, ‘the white coats’, the Gatherer of fallen souls and the Fairy of law. After each story there is a comment with additional information and the legislative point of view is given to every case. The authors – the NGO activist Milen Chavrov and the lawyer Ivana Murdjeva, are long-year consultants of people working on problems related to HIV/AIDS, as well of people living with HIV.

Internal Organizational Changes for Improving the Work of Institutions for Young People with Learning Disabilities (YPLD)
Lovech, November 24-25, 2016 One of the aims of Keep me Safe project of Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health (BFPA) is to increase the work on prevention of sexual violence and harassment of YPLD. The efforts of the team together with the organizations working with and for young people with learning disabilities are to create supportive environment and better conditions for health-educational activities. A two-day upgrading workshop, part of the prolongation of the Keep me Safe project of BFPA took place in Lovech in November 24-25, 2016. Participants from organizations and schools from Pleven, Dolni Dubnik and Lovech who were trained in interactive techniques during the active phase (2013–2015) of the project participated in it.

Sliven, November 3-4, 2016 A two-day workshop, part of the prolongation of the Keep me Safe project of the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) took place in Sliven in November 3-4, 2016. Organizations from Sliven and Yambol working with and for young people with special educational needs participated in it. One of the aims of the project is to increase the organizations’ work on prevention of sexual violence and harassment creating a supportive environment for the young people with learning disabilities and conditions for appropriate health educational sessions. The workshop was an upgrading follow-up for the representatives of the five organizations. Part of them were trained in interactive techniques and exercises during the active phase of implementing the project (2013–2015).

BFPA is a partner of TEDxMladostWomen 2016
Sofia, October 29 2016 On October 29th 2016 in the DNA space of the National Palace of Culture, TEDxMladostWomen 2016 took place. The topic is Time and this year BFPA is a partner to the event. Last year one of the lecturers was Dr Rada Stamenkova from BFPA, this year – one of the BFPA volunteers – Dimitrinka Borisova with a story of the (im)possible integration and the power of education. Memorable moments – the opera singer Mila Mihova as an event moderator, Mirolyuba Benatova telling about her developing career and the family that has not happened yet, Martina Vachkova about age and the actor’s walk of life. Powerful and electrifying moments. Decorated with the “Reverse your vision” exhibition, leading to the event hall. TEDxMladostWomen is a part of the TEDWomen Global Initiative, dedicated to the power of women to be creators and driving force for change. The presentations were about Time, women’s place in it and how they pass through it.
