Introductory training on how to work in multi-ethnic environment in the project for access to health services for groups at risk in five districts of Sofia
Sofia, June 1-2 2016 Intensive and extremely well visited workshop with medical specialists and field workers, who will be implementing the activities on the project of First Specialized Ob/Gyn Hospital for Active Treatment ‘St. Sofia’ ‘Access to health services for pregnant women, young mothers and children up to 3 years old from groups at risk’ in partnership with the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) took place at June 1-2, 2016 in Sofia. The entire project teams from the five project sites – Fakulteta, Filipovzi, Hristo Botev, Orlandovzi and Malashevzi participated in the training and thus the number of participants were more than 40 people. Project activities, roles and responsibilities of the team members, working formats by activities, opportunities for interaction between the different experts and consultants on the project were discussed.

Health educational campaign of Durex supported by BFPA marked the end of the scholar year across the country
Bulgaria, May 9-June 24 2016 Durex started its campaign on healthcare in seven Bulgarian cities on May 9, 2016. BFPA is participating through its volunteers Ralitsa Hristova and Nedko Geshev in Sofia and the coordinator of its branch in Pleven Dr. Krasimir Romanov, as well aas with other local volunteers who are conducting interactive educational sessions for young people aged 14-16. The topics connected with changes during the puberty, reproductive health, sexually transmitted infections, including HIV, unwanted pregnancy, methods of contraception and not last – the romantic side of the intimate relationships, are provoking a vivid interest, curiosity and numerous questions among pupils.

Who and Why Needs Health Education?

The mutual idea on the importance of the need young people in Bulgaria to have access to a contemporary interactive, adequate and youth friendly information with the help of which to be able to take the right decisions connected with their sexual health. The topics we discussed on are connected not only with Moundy Thursday, the different beliefs, traditions, religions around the world, personal beliefs ..., Chekhov, but also with the common sense.

Official launch of the project “Access to health services for pregnant women, young mothers and children up to 3 yrs old from groups at risk” to media
Sofia, April 25 2016 At a press-conference at the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) the project “Access to health services for pregnant women, young mothers and children up to 3 yrs old from groups at risk” was presented to media. It is implemented by 1st Specialized Ob/Gyn Hospital for Active Treatment (SOGHAT) “St. Sofia” in partnership with the Bulgarian Family Planning and Sexual Health Association (BFPA) and funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism of EEA. Dr. Ivan Dikov, head of the Counseling and Diagnostics department at “St. Sofia”, explained the health aspects of the project – from accepting patients in a specially renovated ward, to home visits for new mothers and field work. Besides the medical aspects, Dr. Dikov emphasized on the need of a lot of educational work not only with groups at risk which are the main focus of the activities but also with wider patient auditorium form the Western part of Sofia.

Health Education and Training for Trainers for Young People from EBS Rakitovo
Rakitovo, April 15-16, 2016 Workshop on health education for peer training of trainers was led at 15 and 16 April by the Bulgarian Association of Family Planning and Sexual Health (BFPA) team. The young people are in the age group 15 to 18 and are all from the Boarding School for boys with criminal record. They were provoked to think and gain knowledge on male and female reproductive system, changes during puberty, hygiene, methods of contraception, sexually transmitted infections incl. HIV/AIDS, trafficking of human beans, sexual and labor exploitation, violence in intimate relationships. The interactive games and group work were leading the process in the two days so that the boys reflected on how important the good communication and teamwork are.
