TED started 25 years ago as a conference in California, and grew up as global movement that supports ideas that change the world via different initiatives. The annual TED conference invites world leading minds and activists to deliver a talk not longer than 18 minutes. Afterwards their presentations are given for free to TED.com. Among TED speakers are Bill Gates, Al Gore, Melinda Gates, Jane Goodal, Elisabeth Gilbert, sir Richard Branson, Isabel Aliende, Gorden Brown, Jane Fonda and many other inspiring personalities. The annual TED conference is held in California and is aired worldwide. TEDGlobal is conducted every year in Oxford, UK. Various media TED initiatives include the TED.com, channel, where every day new TEDTalks are loaded and the Open Translation project that provides subtitles and the opportunity TEDTalks to be translated form volunteers in many languages worldwide. TED established the annual TED prize given to outstanding figures. The prize give the opportunity people to realize their ideas; TEDx, that gives to different people and/or groups to create local TEDx events under a strict license and the TEDFellows program, that helps innovators all over the world to become part of the TED community and enlarge the impact of its remarkable projects and activities.

TEDWomen is a three days worldwide conference format enforcing the strength of women and girls to be creators and catalystsGroup photo of change. This year topic and theme is Momentum.
On the stage of Arena Mladost cinema on May 30 2015 we had 8 speakes – six women and two men. People with a lot of internal strength and energy, often having a personal moment with the cause they strive for.People that it is important to lesten to and to hear, because they are changing the world on our behalf.
For BFPA it is a great honor that this year our Executive Director Dr. Radosveta Stamenkova is a TED speaker. Her topic „About exceptions that rewrite rules and regulations” was focused at overcoming stereotypes in our attitudes towards Roma, Guestsimmigrants… generally towards the different. She talked with passion about the strength of positive examples, and that people must not be labeled. Integrated Roma are invisible, we must open our senses for the good examples, for the ordinary human stories. Health mediators, Roma medical students, young people, staying in school in order to continue their education, Roma volunteers during the natural disasters in 2014, are all examples showing that being good is not having ethnicity or national origin and that mutual understanding and integration are mission possible. And that the most important is to work and do everything with love. Guests of Rada (as everybody calls her) during the event were the young Roma Antonia Valentinova a student in medicine, and Dimitrinka Borisova, a student in Nursing. The both gained the admirations of the auditorium (and do not forget that it is a format, in which in order to be in the public, you submit an application and only 100 people are selected according to the license regulations.
We are awaiting the organizers form California to upload the talks in the global channel, where they will reach not only us in Bulgaria, but people all over the world. Let’s see what is the Momentum. And thank you for the inspiration!

Dolna Banya, January 24-26, 2020

On January 26-28 BFPA organized a meeting of the teams working on the project „My body, my rights” from Sofia, Yambol and Montana. Representatives of the three locations shared their experiences from the implemented field activities. We discussed problems which health mediators, self-help group members and their partners face and paid special attention on possible ways and strategies for solving. Participants put accent on good practices that had been identified up to the moment. It was the perfect time to watch and discuss several videos, showing the fieldwork as well as image “memes” with messages, which show benefits of family planning.
Participants gave feedback also for the freshly prepared Manual for self-support groups and for the Health application for mobile devices, which will be useful in the future work on the project and after its ending. Divided into groups by locations the participants from Sofia, Yambol and Montana worked on possible ways of documenting stories for the most significant change of people’s lives as result of the work of project teams and health specialists.
